Question from Kenny: Hi Rick. First of all, I wa windows-7 nt to thank you for your generosity in posting all these amazing tips. You have helped so many people by posting them! Now, I have a question for you if you don’t mind.

I recently bought a new computer and decided to give my 2 year old Gateway laptop to my son. Since he’s only 8 years old I’d like to keep him from accessing the Control Panel and accidentally messing things up.

My question is can you tell me how to disable the Control Panel in Windows 7?

Q&A: Why won’t AVG Antivirus start up after doing a System Restore?

Question from Michael B: Rick, I accidentally deleted some Windows files and ended up having to do a System Restore. I held my breath the entire time, but thank goodness it worked!

Everything seems to be back to normal now, but my AVG Free Antivirus won’t load. Do you have any idea why (and how I can fix it)? This is Windows 7 Pro on a Dell Latitude E6530 laptop.

Q&A: Can I replace the video card in my laptop?

Q&A: How can I make the Desktop the default download folder in IE 11?

Question from Danny H.: Hi there Rick. I see that you answer computer questions, so maybe you can help me do something that I’ve been wanting to do for a long time.

How can I make the Desktop my default download folder in Internet Explorer 11 on my Windows 7 laptop? I only download something every once in a blue moon, but it would be nice not to have to click “Save as” and choose the Desktop every time.
