Is your iPhone running out of memory? Here’s a quick tip that can help.

Posted on June 17, 2020

If you’re an iPhone user you probably know that keeping as much of your phone’s memory free as possible will help it run faster and also prevent glitches and freeze-ups.

However, you might not be aware that old iMessages that contain images and other attachments can use up a huge portion of your phone’s available memory.

Luckily, it’s very easy to free up lots of memory space once per month simply by instructing your phone to automatically delete your older iMessages on a monthly basis. All it takes is a simple settings change:  [Read more…]

Heads-up: Apple now blocking health information for ALL iPhone batteries that were installed by third-party techs.

Posted on August 12, 2019

If you’ve been using an iPhone for a while you probably know that you can check the health of your phone’s battery by selecting an option on the Settings screen.

This battery health information basically lets you know if your battery is wearing out and needs to be replaced.

For years Apple refused to allow iOS to reset the battery health info back to “Healthy” after a new third-party battery was installed, but according to our friends at iFixit they’re now even refusing to reset the health information for genuine Apple batteries unless they’re installed by Apple authorized techs.

How to disable ‘Throttling’ on your iPhone in iOS 11.3

Posted on April 17, 2018

According to recent reports from Motherboard and Malwarebytes, cops now have capability to unlock your locked and encrypted iPhone and view your call logs, text messages and photos at will.

What’s more, they can even access your instant messaging and social media accounts if your phone signs you into those accounts automatically (always a bad idea).

And they can now do all of this without your assistance.  [Read more…]

Apple apologizes for forcing older iPhones to run slower (and offers $29 battery replacement)

Posted on December 30, 2017

A few days ago I wrote a post explaining how it came to light that Apple has been intentionally causing older iPhones to run slower via software updates.

As you might expect, the company was quickly hit with a couple of class-action lawsuits over the practice.

Well, it seems they’ve now come to their senses because they’ve published a blog post apologizing for the way they handled the situation.   [Read more…]
