Q&A: How do I display the Battery Life Percentage indicator on IOS 7?

Question from Carl: Hi Rick. I have an iPhone 4 that I upgraded to IOS 7 just as soon as it was released. I think it’s a great upgrade, but I can’t figure out how to display the Battery Life Precentage indicator. Can you tell me how?

Rick’s answer: This issue has perplexed a lot of iPhone users Carl. You’d think something as important as the Battery Life Indicator would be enabled by default, wouldn’t you? Anyway, here’s how to turn it on:

1 – Open the Settings Menu

2 – Tap General

3 – Tap Usage

4 – Tap Battery Percentage

Microsoft Office finally comes to your iPhone

office-for-iphone As one would expect, Windows phone users have been able to run Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) on their phones for some time now, but iPhone users who wanted to do the same were left out in the cold. But that has now changed.

Microsoft has just released Office for iPhone, a really nice app that is available for free in the Apple App Store to Office 365 subscribers. Office for iPhone wasn’t intended to be used for creating new Office files on your iPhone, just for editing them, sharing them and syncing them with your Desktop PC. [Read more…]

Samsung smart phones outselling iPhones 2 to 1

samsung-smart-phone Korean electronics giant Samsung has quietly become the 800 pound gorilla in the smart phone marketplace.

According to market researcher IDC, in the first quarter of 2013 Samsung shipped 71 million smart phones compared to Apple’s 37 million. In fact, during that three month period Samsung’s market share was greater than the next four companies combined.

Of the top five smart phone vendors, Apple is the only company in the bunch that actually lost market share in the first quarter. And another recent study shows that more customers switch from iPhone to Android when purchasing their next phone than the other way around. [Read more…]
