Question from Carl:  I read here that you can “span” (i.e. combine) multiple hard drives and use them as one large drive and access them all with a single drive letter.

I have a used, but working 1TB hard drive at home that I could install in my Windows 11 desktop computer to span with the 1TB drive that’s already in it to effectively give me a 2TB drive. (There is an open drive bay to install the second drive.)

Would you mind answering a question about drive spanning for me?  [Read more…]

Question from Rose:  Hi, Rick. First of all let me say that I love your tips. They have helped me out of many jams over the years.

I hope you can help me with a new problem I’m dealing with right now.

I have three different Yahoo email accounts that I use for different purposes and it would be a big help to me if I could stay signed into all of them at the same time.

The problem is the only way I can sign in to a different Yahoo account with Edge is to sign out of the one I’m currently signed into first. Is there any way that I can sign into all of them at once?  [Read more…]

Question from Gloria:  Hi, Rick. I have a question for you. Is it possible to watch YouTube videos in slow motion?

I’m taking a dance class and every week we are assigned a set of instructional dance videos to watch on YouTube.

The problem I’m having is the dancers move so quickly that I have trouble following (and learning) the steps. One of the hazards of getting older I guess.

I usually watch these videos on my desktop computer, but I occasionally watch them on my phone as well.

Is there some way to slow YouTube videos down to make them easier to follow?  [Read more…]

Question from Danielle:  Hello, Rick. I’ve been reading your blog for a long time now and it seems that I remember reading a post where you explained how to reopen a browser tab that was closed by accident. Am I right?

I close the wrong tab ALL THE TIME, and I’d really like to know how to open it back up!

I mostly use Chrome if that makes a difference. Thanks!!!!  [Read more…]

Question from Michael:  I have a three year old laptop that runs a bit on the warm side. It always has, ever since I first took it out of the box.

I read your post about replacing a hard drive with an SSD and I’d love to replace the existing 1TB hard drive in this laptop with a 1TB SSD.

The thing is I’m afraid it will cause the laptop to overheat since it’s getting really warm already. Do you think it might?  [Read more…]
