Love Firefox, but wish it wasn’t so slow? Give ‘Pale Moon’ a try!

Posted on May 9, 2021

I’ll admit it, I love the Firefox web browser.

I really like the look and feel of Firefox’s browser window, and I LOVE all the great extensions that let me do things with Firefox that I can’t do with any other browser.

But as much as I love Firefox, there’s one thing that has kept me using Google Chrome as my primary web browser instead of Firefox: Firefox can be as slow as cold molasses while viewing some websites. But I have good news…  [Read more…]

Q&A: How can I stop my downloads from filling up my PC’s small SSD?

Posted on December 4, 2020

Question from Micah H:  I read your post about how replacing the hard drive with an SSD will make a computer run a lot faster.

That really sounded good so I installed a Micron 60GB SSD (I got it at a GREAT price!) in my HP desktop PC.

I installed Windows 10 on the SSD and put most of my programs on the hard drive (which I had left in there for extra storage).

The SSD did speed the computer up quite a bit but I’m having a problem with it running out of storage space.

Q&A: Can I bookmark the ‘Downloads’ folder in all of my web browsers?

Posted on September 26, 2020

The problem I have is remembering how to find the downloads folder for each browser.

Is there any way to bookmark the Downloads folders in my browsers so I can open them really fast and without having to think about it lol? Thanks!

How to use the same ‘Downloads’ folder for ALL of your web browsers!

Posted on September 20, 2020

When you download a file using your web browser, the file is placed in a special “Downloads” folder where you can retrieve it and do as you wish with it.

If you use two or more different browsers on a regular basis, this can become quite confusing because each browser uses its own ‘downloads” folder.

And unfortunately, those downloads folders are typically located in different places on the hard drive.

I keep four different web browsers open at all times when I’m working because it makes the way I prefer to work easier to manage.

I only have one common downloads folder however (C:\Downloads\), and all of my browsers save their downloads in that one common folder. If you’d like to do the same thing, this post explains how to set it up. [Read more…]
