Q&A: How do I disable the touchpad on my laptop?

Posted on February 12, 2018

Question from Ellen P.:  I recently bought a new laptop with Windows 10 on it to use when I’m travelling.

I really like it but the touchpad is very sensitive. If I’m typing something and I happen to accidentally brush my hand against the touchpad it messes up what I’m doing.

I always use a mouse instead of the touchpad on this machine so I’d like to disable the touchpad if it’s possible to do so. Is it?

Posted on February 8, 2018

apple-macbook-pro-mgxa2llaApple products have long been considered by many to be the “cream of the crop” in the tech world. In fact, in their eyes the Apple brand is almost synonymous with perfection.

While that opinion is certainly debatable, I would say that it comes pretty close to the mark in the case of Apple’s latest MacBook Pro.

The MacBook Pro MJLQ2LL/A 15.4-Inch Laptop with Retina Display is a perfect combination of style, power and reliability.  [Read more…]

Q&A: Why does my mouse pointer shake when I touch the trackpad on my laptop?

Posted on January 11, 2018

acer-laptop-trackpadQuestion from Kyle H.:  I have an Acer laptop with Windows 7 and I’ve had a problem with it from day one.

Every time I touch the trackpad the mouse pointer starts shaking and it’s really irritating.

This has been going on ever since the day I bought the laptop and Acer hasn’t been any help at all.

Do you know why it’s doing this or if there’s anything I can try to maybe get it fixed?

This is an interesting era in the world of laptop computers. Gaming and business laptops just keep getting faster and more powerful while ultrabooks keep getting smaller, thinner and lighter.

And at the same time, it seems that the laptops in the middle are becoming more or less forgotten.

That being said, I believe these mid-range traditional-style laptops still have a valid place in the world. I recently had the opportunity to check out one such laptop, and came away thinking pretty highly of it.  [Read more…]

Laptops are getting thinner and lighter all the time, and that’s a great thing. After all, when it comes to portability, smaller and lighter is always better.

That being said, PC manufacturers face a real challenge when trying to find ways to keep reducing their latest laptops’ size and weight without drastically sacrificing features, performance and durability.

With their fantastic Zenbook line, ASUS seems to be meeting that challenge better and better with every new laptop they design.  [Read more…]
