Q&A: Will leaving the lid open 24/7 damage my laptop?

Question from Mark:  I have a four month old Acer Nitro 5 Gaming Laptop with a 32 inch ASUS gaming monitor connected and set as the primary display.

I use the 32 inch screen for my games. The laptop’s built-in screen is always open with my email and a few other apps open on it.

Every time I type the word “laptop” into Amazon’s search box there are usually a few Chromebooks included in the search results.

I remember seeing commercials on TV where they said Chromebooks aren’t laptops. If that’s true why do they come up in a search for the word laptop?

How to use your iPad as a laptop

It’s no secret that Apple’s iPad line of tablets have amazing touch screens and quite functional virtual onscreen keyboards.

However, it’s also no secret that most people find it much easier to type using a full screen physical keyboard and “tapping” doesn’t give you the same level of control you can get with a mouse.

For most typical “tablet” tasks the iPad’s virtual keyboard and touch screen work just fine, but if you do a lot of typing and/or image manipulation you might be better off attaching a physical keyboard and mouse to your iPad so you can use it like a laptop.  [Read more…]
