Q&A: Why can’t I message someone on Facebook without paying $1?

Posted on January 16, 2014

facebook-logoQuestion from Jamie:  Hi. Just yesterday I tried to send someone I wasn’t “friends” with two pictures they had asked for. Facebook said if I wanted to have the message go directly into their message box, I had to pay a $1.00.

bitstrips-logoQuestion from Randy E.:  Hi Rick. Are you familiar with those Bitstrips cartoons that pop up on Facebook now where your friends are the characters in the cartoons? Well I hate them, and I’d love to be able to block them. Can you tell me how?

Rick’s answer:  Randy, I sure am familiar with the Bitstrips, and to be honest I sort of like them. But I can certainly see where others might find them annoying if they aren’t really into that sort of thing.

There are two ways to block Bitstrips and prevent them from showing up in your newsfeed. [Read more…]

Posted on September 28, 2013

facebook-logoHave you ever made a serious typo in one of your Facebook posts and wished you could edit the post to fix it? We all have of course, but until now all we could do was delete the post altogether and then re-post that awesome nugget of info that we wanted to share with the world.

Well, as of this week Facebook now gives us the ability to edit a post without having to delete and re-post it from scratch.  Here’s how:  [Read more…]
