bitstrips-logoQuestion from Randy E.:  Hi Rick. Are you familiar with those Bitstrips cartoons that pop up on Facebook now where your friends are the characters in the cartoons? Well I hate them, and I’d love to be able to block them. Can you tell me how?

Rick’s answer:  Randy, I sure am familiar with the Bitstrips, and to be honest I sort of like them. But I can certainly see where others might find them annoying if they aren’t really into that sort of thing.

There are two ways to block Bitstrips and prevent them from showing up in your newsfeed. The first way is to simply block ALL apps and games in one fell swoop. This post explains how to do it.

The second way is to block just the Bitstrips app while continuing to allow the rest. Here’s how:

1 – Log in to your Facebook account.

2 – Click the “gear” shaped Settings icon in the upper right-hand corner of the window.

3 – Click Account Settings.

4 – In the far left-hand column, click Blocking.

5 – Scroll down to the “Block apps” section and type bitstrips into the input box, then press the Enter key.

That’s all there is to it. From now on you won’t see any more of the Bitstrips cartoons show up in your news feed.
