Facebook has removed the messaging feature from their mobile site

facebook-logoA couple of years ago Facebook removed the messaging feature from their mobile app and asked folks to start using the standalone Facebook Messenger app instead.

Since I’ve never been a fan of the Facebook Messenger app, I recommended at the time that users stop using the Facebook app and use the mobile version of the Facebook website instead. That way they could still enjoy the entire Facebook experience without having to load a second app just to message someone.

Well, now Facebook has decided to complete the push to Facebook Messenger by removing the messaging feature from the mobile site as well. That means you’ll need to either start using Facebook Messenger or one of these fantastic third-party alternatives.  [Read more…]

Q&A: Can I disable the tooltips that pop up and cover the text boxes when I’m trying to type on Facebook?

diable-tooltips-logoQuestion from Elise:  I hate it when I’m trying to type a comment or status update on Facebook and a tooltip pops up and won’t let me see what I’m typing.

I use Facebook with both Chrome and Firefox and the problem shows up in both of them. Is there any way to disable the annoying tooltips in those browsers?

Great news: You no longer have to “Decline” Facebook event invitations

facebook-logoOne of the most discomforting things about Facebook is having to click “Decline” when you receive an invitation to an event that you would rather not attend. After all, nobody wants to be considered a party-pooper!

While you can always click “Maybe” (or simply ignore the invitation altogether), that will leave the host wondering if you’re going to show up.  [Read more…]
