Q&A: How can I see who has ‘poked’ me on Facebook?

Posted on February 10, 2021

Question from Wilma A.:  Great site you have there, Rick. I visit every day!

I have a question about Facebook and I know you’ll be able to answer it for me.

I have a lot of friends and a bunch of them poke me on a regular basis. I’m talking maybe 30-40 pokes a day.

I don’t have time to respond to all the pokes as they come in so I usually wait a few days and poke everyone back at once.

Where do I look for the list of people who have poked me?

Rick’s Tech Tips Newsletter

Well, the account cloning epidemic on Facebook is showing no signs of letting up.

In fact, it seems to be getting worse.

Every day I see frantic posts from several of my friends saying they’ve been hacked and not to accept a new friend request from them.

I know how alarming it can be when your friends start sending you messages saying they’ve received duplicate friend requests from you, but the situation really isn’t as dire as it seems.  [Read more…]

Q&A: Can I use my existing external hard drive with my new MacBook?

External Hard DriveNote: The links in this post are affiliate links.

Question from Lawrence:  Hi, Rick. I’m hoping you can answer a question for me about hard drives.

A while back I bought a Seagate STHN2000400 2TB external hard drive to use to transfer files back and forth between the personal Mac I keep at home and another Mac that I use at work.

This arrangement was working great until my home Mac bit the dust and I had to replace it.

The problem I’m having is the MacBook Pro I bought a few days ago won’t work with the Seagate drive. There’s no connector on the laptop that will accept the plug on the drive.

If at all possible I’d like to keep using this drive with the new MacBook Pro because it contains thousands of files that I use both at home and at work.

Is there some kind of adapter I can buy to make this particular Seagate drive work with my new laptop? [Read more…]
