Q&A: Strange posts are being published on my blog without my permission. How can I stop it?

Posted on February 1, 2021

Question from Melvin:  I have a “health and wellness” blog that I’ve been writing for over four years now. It runs on WordPress.

I write several new posts each week and the blog now has over a thousand posts on it.

About a month ago I paid a guy to make some updates to the blog to make it more attractive and add a couple of new features that I’d seen on other blogs.

With my permission he ended up changing the blog to a new theme (Divi). Now I have a big problem that I hope you can help me with.

Q&A: How do I copy the photos from my iPhone to a Windows PC?

Question from Kellie:  I dropped my three year old iPhone 7 Plus and cracked the screen.

The phone still works but parts of the screen are unreadable.

I’ve never really been happy with this phone so I’m just going to replace it with an Android phone when I get paid next week.

My question is how can I copy the photos I’ve taken with the iPhone onto a Lenovo laptop that has Windows 10 on it?

Q&A: Do I need to disable ‘Off-Facebook Activity’ on Facebook?

Posted on January 26, 2021

Question from Terry:  Rick, you’re the one I trust to suggest what to do about this “Off-Facebook Activity” that is in the Facebook settings.

Lots of people have said turn it off and clear its history so we won’t be tracked.

Is there anything to this? And mainly, do we need to turn off this feature?

Thank you!

13 tips for speeding up and securing a WordPress blog

Posted on January 24, 2021

There’s a strong consensus among those in the blogging world that WordPress is hands-down the best blogging platform out there.

It’s ease of use, amazing flexibility and natural friendliness towards search engines makes using WordPress a true no-brainer in my opinion.

But that being said, it’s extremely easy to build a WordPress site that’s cumbersome to use, irritatingly slow to load and inherently insecure if one just throws a bunch of “pieces” together to create their blog.

And as you might imagine a slow loading and insecure blog tends to drive away visitors in droves, keep your pages from ranking well in the search engines and make your blog susceptible to hackers.

On the other hand, it’s actually pretty easy to build and maintain a WordPress blog that loads very quickly and is (more or less) immune to hacking attacks if you know how to go about it. Here are a few tips that can help…  [Read more…]
