This week’s top 5 best-selling laptops on Amazon

Posted on September 1, 2014

best-selling-laptopsEvery few days I receive an email asking me which brand/model of laptop is the best selling laptop currently on the market.

I certainly don’t mind looking it up for folks whenever I’m asked, but I thought it might be a good idea to simply post the 5 best-selling laptops on Amazon from the previous week every Monday.

If you’re wondering why so many people inquire about the “best sellers”, it’s because it makes them feel better about their own purchase if they choose a popular model with plenty of great reviews.

With that in mind, here are some of the best-selling laptops on Amazon: [Read more…]

As I explained in this post, adding a solid state drive (SSD) to your computer can speed it up more than any other other upgrade you can make for the same amount of money.

Today I’m going to tell you how to give your system the same awesome speed boosts provided by solid state drives at just a fraction of the cost. What’s more, you won’t have to replace your hard drive or copy its contents onto a new drive!

The little gem that makes all this possible is called a “Cache Only SSD”.

In essence, a Cache Only SSD is a slimmed down solid state drive that does just one thing: cache your most-used programs and operating system routines in flash memory. Then when the CPU needs those programs and routines again, they’re loaded from the super-fast flash memory instead of the much slower hard drive.

In short, a Cache Only SSD makes your Windows operating system and programs load in, well…a flash!  [Read more…]

Review: Lenovo IdeaPad (59406579) 15.6-Inch Touchscreen Laptop

Posted on August 15, 2014

lenovo-ideapad-59406579Back when I first heard that Lenovo was planning to buy out IBM’s personal computer business, I was concerned that the quality of their PCs would suffer. But that turned out not to be the case at all.

Lenovo has consistently built high quality machines, and that has paid off by making them one of the world’s top selling brands year after year.

I recently had a chance to check out the Lenovo IdeaPad 15.6 Inch Touchscreen Laptop, and I was impressed with the quality and features that come in the standard model. [Read more…]

Review: Quantum Axis A23 7″ Dual Core, Dual Camera, 1024×600 Capacitive Screen Android 4.2 Tablet

Posted on June 19, 2014

quantum-axis-a23-tabletI had been on the lookout for an inexpensive Android tablet for a while when I learned about the Quantum Axis A23, a 7″, dual core, dual camera model with 512MB of DDR3 RAM.

To be honest, the low price tag concerned me a bit, but since I had heard good things about it I thought I’d give it a try.

The very first thing I noticed when I picked it up for the first time was how well built this tablet is. I expected a tablet that costs so little to feel cheep and fragile, but the feel of this Axis A23 is neither. The attractive molded plastic case firmly holds the screen in place with no bending or cracking sounds.  [Read more…]
