Yahoo is pulling the plug on Yahoo Messenger

Back in the “Stone Age” of the Internet (i.e. before Facebook came along) Yahoo Messenger and AOL Messenger were used on a daily basis by millions of users to keep in touch with friends and family.

Well, times have changed…

AOL Messenger was shut down last year, leaving only Yahoo Messenger to compete with Facebook’s hugely popular Messenger app.

As of today that competition is officially over because Yahoo has just announced they’ll shutting down the entire Yahoo Messenger platform on July 17, 2018.  [Read more…]

If you sign into Flickr via your Facebook or Google account, you won’t be able to much longer

flickr-logoIf you’ve always logged into Flickr using your Facebook or Google sign-in credentials, you won’t be able to do so much longer.

Yahoo has just announced that they’ll soon be eliminating the option to sign into Flickr via Facebook or Google. After that time you’ll need a valid Yahoo account in order to access the ultra-popular photo sharing service.  [Read more…]

yahoo-logoMalware seems to be attacking our computers from every direction these days, but we still tend to take the security of the world’s most trafficked websites as a given. As it turns out, that could be a huge mistake.

According to online security firm Fox IT, hundreds of thousands of visitors to the massive network of Yahoo websites on or around January 3 were served ads that redirected their browsers to websites containing malware.
