If you sign into Flickr via your Facebook or Google account, you won’t be able to much longer

flickr-logoIf you’ve always logged into Flickr using your Facebook or Google sign-in credentials, you won’t be able to do so much longer.

Yahoo has just announced that they’ll soon be eliminating the option to sign into Flickr via Facebook or Google. After that time you’ll need a valid Yahoo account in order to access the ultra-popular photo sharing service.

You can easily retain your current Flickr account and its associated content however. All you need to do is visit this Yahoo page and log in via either Facebook or Google one last time. You’ll be given the opportunity to create a new Yahoo account and connect it to your existing Flickr account. From then on you’ll sign into Flickr using your Yahoo sign-in credentials.

If you already have a Yahoo account that isn’t connected to your Flickr account, you can easily connect the two on that same page.

I recommend making the switch as soon as possible because Yahoo says they will “eventually” effectively abandon your Flickr account by removing the ability to log into it via Facebook or Google. And since they don’t define “eventually”, it could happen in just a month or two.
