Question from Pete: Every now and then I open the Task Manager on my Windows 11 laptop and quickly scan the running processes just to make sure there’s nothing out of the ordinary running.
I hopped out of bed this morning, turned on my laptop and did one of those checks. I was surprised to see there were numerous lsass.exe processes running when there’s usually only one. [Read more…]

Question from Juliene: Hello, Rick. I’m a long time reader of your blog and I’ve read your posts about making System Image backups with Windows.
Your instructions are very good and easy to follow.
I’ve made three backups so far for my laptop but I just noticed that there’s only one backup on my external hard drive. I’m assuming it’s the last one I made?

Question from Amber: After my Windows computer has been sitting idle for a few minutes the hard drive just shuts down.
When I get back on the computer and press a key or move my mouse I can hear the drive starting back up again and I have to wait several seconds before I can do anything.
This is extremely irritating. I don’t mind the hard drive shutting down when the computer goes to sleep but I want it to remain active while the computer is up and running.

Question from Jackie D.: Rick, I read your post about replacing Windows with Linux and I’d really like to give Linux Mint a try. The thing is I don’t want to get rid of Windows.
I read that you have a choice of either installing Linux Mint to dual-boot with Windows or placing it on a separate hard drive. I’d like to know which way you think I should go. [Read more…]
