Q&A: How do I disable the Promotions tab in Gmail?

Posted on October 23, 2023

Rick’s Tech Tips Newsletter

Question from Kevin:  I hope you can help me with a Gmail problem, Rick.

I subscribe to several email newsletters (including yours), and almost all of them always end up in the “Promotions” tab instead of the Inbox.

That includes the newsletters I pay for, and I’m really tired of it.

I’ve selected “Not Promotions” so many times but Gmail ignores my choice and keeps on putting them in Promotions anyway.

I heard that I can disable the Promotions tab altogether so the newsletters will always go into my Inbox, but I can’t find that setting. Can you help me?  [Read more…]

Q&A: Will ‘Email Paramedic’ really keep emails out of Gmail’s Promotions tab?

One of the sites that came up was for something called Email Paramedic. I was wondering if you’ve heard of Email Paramedic and if it actually works? [Read more…]

Q&A: How do I stop my Gmail messages from being forwarded to my ex’s email account?

Posted on August 27, 2018

gmailQuestion from Cindy T.:  I just found out that my ex is somehow causing all of my Gmail messages to be forwarded to his own email account.

I know he had the password to my account for a while because I let him use it when he was looking for a job (the lazy bum never did find one). I guess that’s when he set up the forwarding.

Anyway, how can I stop my emails from being forwarded to his account?

Rick’s answer:  Cindy, what you’ll need to do is log into your Gmail account and disable “Forwarding” in your account settings. Here’s how:  [Read more…]
