How to find out exactly which hardware components are inside your PC
Your Windows PC is basically a collection of various hardware components, all housed and interconnected with one another inside a computer case of some sort.
Unlike Apple products that tend to me more or less standardardized in terms of the hardware that’s inside a given model, Windows PCs come in literally thousands of different hardware configurations.
Do you know exactly which hardware components are inside your PC?
If not, do you know how to find out if the need should ever arise?
There are a number of ways to find out exactly what’s inside your Windows PC, but I prefer using a trio of handy little tools that you can download and use at no cost from my favorite downloads site, OlderGeeks.com.
First, there’s CPU-Z, a small but comprehensive program that will scan your system and create an itemized list of virtually every piece of hardware that’s in there.
Next, I like to run Speccy, another great tool that presents much the same data in a different format. That way I’m less likely to miss an important bit of info that might have slipped past me while reading the results of the CPU-Z scan.
And finally, I like to follow those scans up with a third scan using another great tool called HWiNFO.
Those three awesome tools will tell you everything you need to know about the hardware components that are inside your Windows PC.
Run these little gems right before you place your next Tech Support call and you’ll be prepared to answer most any hardware-related question the tech might ask.
