Scam alert: Beware the ubiquitous ‘Ray Ban Sunglasses Discount’ scam posts that are making the rounds on social media

I’ve recently noticed a major increase in the number of scam posts claiming to offer Ray Ban sunglasses at huge discounts, often at up to 90% off.

These Ray Ban discount scams have been making the rounds for years, but typically just a few here and there at any given time.

But right now it seems they’re everywhere.

Warning: This malicious photo being spread on social media could ‘brick’ your smartphone!

If it seems like the scammers of the world are getting more devious by the day, it’s because they are.

While Facebook, Twitter and many other popular social media sites are constantly being used as world-wide playgrounds for the miscreants, the ease with which they can can cause harm to innocent people grows by the day.

The latest dangerous scam involves posting a simple photo with accompanying text telling you to set the photo as your phone’s wallpaper image.

Q&A: How can I prevent my Windows tablet’s onscreen keyboard from capitalizing the first letter when I type something?

Question from Craig L.:  I just bought a new Windows 10 tablet and there’s something that’s driving me nuts.

Every time I start typing something on the onscreen keyboard it automatically capitalizes the first letter and I have to go back and change it.

That really irritates me because most of the stuff I type doesn’t need any capitalization at all.

Is there a way to make this tablet quit capitalizing the first letter when I start typing?

Scam alert: The popular ‘Mathway’ app has been hacked, resulting in 25 million stolen email address and passwords.

Do you (or someone you know) use the hugely popular ‘Mathway’ app?

If so, the email address and password you use with that app are now probably being sold on the dark web.

Mathway is one of the world’s most popular educational apps, and according to ZDnet and other news sources 25 million Mathway users have had their login information stolen by hackers.
