Scam alert: Beware this dangerous ‘Stimulus Payment’ scam

Posted on December 13, 2021

Well, the scammers of the world are really working overtime to take advantage of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

It seems that every week or so another scam pops up to try to separate innocent people from whatever little money they have left after being out of work for almost a month.

A very dangerous pandemic-related scam is making the rounds right this very moment and it’s targeting folks who are still expecting an economic stimulus payment to arrive.

Q&A: How can I delete an unused Facebook account?

Posted on December 5, 2021

Question from Darren:  I made up several silly Facebook accounts when I was younger claiming to be in all type of professions, just pretending as a kid will do.

Anyway, I’m an adult now and I’d like to get rid of those accounts but I don’t remember the passwords.

I was young and stupid then and every time I forgot a password I’d just make another Facebook account.

The only account I want to keep is the one I’m using now. Is there any way to delete the old unused accounts but keep my current one?  [Read more…]

How to create really secure passwords that are easy to remember

Posted on December 4, 2021

One of the most difficult tasks in computing is choosing a password that is both hard for hackers to crack and easy to remember.

It’s quite quite easy to do one or the other, but doing both at the same time can be a headache. But it doesn’t have to be.

Lots of folks rely on password managers to help keep their online accounts secure, but I don’t recommend that because using a password manager puts your entire digital life at risk.

The good news is you don’t need to use a password manager in order to create extremely secure (and unique) passwords for each of your online accounts – and remember easily them!

This post explains how to do just that.  [Read more…]

Firymid 13 Inch Android Tablet with Stylus

Looking for an Android tablet that’s really easy to use, even with less-than-perfect vision? This one has a large (and bright) 13 inch screen that’s incredibly easy to see.

It also comes with 8GB of physical RAM plus up to 32GB of virtual memory and the 128GB of flash memory storage is expandable to 1TB simply by plugging in a microSD card (not included).

Note: I truly believe this tablet is a great value but the stated 40GB RAM is a bit misleading. The device comes with 8GB of physical RAM (which is actually a good amount), but they arrive at the 40GB total by adding in the 32GB of available virtual memory. I just wanted to clear that up because I’m a firm believer in transparency.
