10 tips for keeping hackers out of your WordPress blog

Posted on June 24, 2022

WordPress blogs are constantly being targeted by hackers, and the problem is getting worse all the time.

It seems that the miscreants of the world have nothing better to do than try to make the lives of others miserable while exploiting the hard work of legitimate bloggers to “earn” some ill-gotten cash for themselves.

Keeping a blog safe from hacking attempts gets more difficult every day as the hackers become ever more determined and sophisticated.

That being said, there are a number of things you can do to help keep your blog safe and secure from the miscreants of the world. Here are 10 tips that can help prevent your WordPress blog from getting hacked: [Read more…]

How to view (and use) two apps at once on your Mac

Posted on June 23, 2022

If you use a Mac there are probably times when you’d like to view (and use) two different apps at the same time.

That would have been fairly difficult back in the days of small screens, but with today’s wide-screen monitors there’s now plenty of room for showing two apps at once in windows that are large enough to actually be usable.

I’ve read in several of your recent posts that Microsoft Defender and the free version of Malwarebytes make a good combination for security on a Windows PC.

When my McAfee came up for renewal I removed it and installed the free Malwarebytes, and so far I’ve been happy with that setup.

One thing I’m not happy about though is all the notifications I’m getting from Windows Security. Every day I get several of them, and most of the ones I get aren’t even important.

How can I limit the notifications I receive from Windows Security to just the ones that are truly needed?  [Read more…]

Q&A: Can I use two Internet connections with one router?

Note: The links in this post are affiliate links.

Question from Emile:  I’m in the process of opening my own third-party remote customer service business.

What I mean is my company will handle telephone and Internet-based customer service for companies that prefer to outsource that service.

I already have contracts with two companies and I’m slated to go live with the service in two months so I need to have all the technology in place by then.

Can you help me with an issue I’m struggling with?  [Read more…]
