How to enable the F8 key for booting Windows 10/11 into Safe Mode

In Windows 7 (and earlier versions) we could easily boot our computers into Safe Mode by repeatedly pressing the F8 key when Windows first started loading.

Starting with Windows 8, Microsoft disabled that option in order to help speed up the boot process. Personally, I have never been very fond of that change.

Question from Margaret:  Rick, my daughter is in the 11th grade and she is taking a couple of computer classes. She’s having a problem that I hope you can help her with.

In her classes the students use their own laptops at their desks to follow along with the teacher and take online tests and quizzes.
