Today’s quick tech tip….

How to turn off your MacBook’s keyboard backlight after inactivity

If you use your MacBook at night you know how handy its backlit keyboard can be.

Unfortunately, you probably also know those backlights draw precious current from the laptop’s battery, causing it to deplete its charge sooner than it needs to.

Luckily, there’s a simple settings change you can make that will force the keyboard’s backlight to turn off after the machine has been sitting idle for a period of time. Here’s how to set it up:

1 – Click the Apple icon in the top-left corner of the screen, then select System Preferences.

2 – Click Keyboard, then check the box beside “Turn keyboard backlight off after 5 Secs of inactivity”.

3 – Click on the 5 secs setting and change it to the amount of time you want the MacBook to wait before it turns off the keyboard backlight.

That’s all there is to it. From now on your MacBook will turn off the keyboard’s backlight after the machine has been inactive for the amount of time you selected in step 3.
