Today’s featured tech tip….

How to disable the ‘Sign in with Google’ prompts you see on the web

If you use Google’s popular Chrome browser you’re probably used to seeing the “Sign in to [website] with Google” prompts that pop up every time you visit certain websites that require you to log in to them.

Generally speaking, I don’t recommend logging into any third-party websites using your Google, Facebook or Twitter login credentials because that adds another potential way for hackers to break into your accounts.

If you’re used to seeing these “Sign in with Google” prompts and you’d like to stop them from popping up, Google makes it easy to do so with one quick Settings change. Just follow the steps below:

1 – Visit this URL in your browser:

https://myaccount.google.com/

2 – If prompted to do so, sign in to your Google account.

3 – In the left-hand pane, click Security.

4 – In the right-hand pane, scroll down to the “Signing in to other sites” section and click Signing in with Google.

5 – Toggle the “Google Account sign-in prompts” setting to Off (the slider should turn from blue to gray).

6 – (optional) Repeat the steps above for any other Google accounts that you currently use.

That’s all there is to it. From now on you shouldn’t be seeing any more “Sign in with Google” prompts.
