While it’s true that most any tablet will work just fine if all you need to do is visit a website or two, send emails, play a simple game or peruse Facebook, you really need the power and flexibility of a full-blown computer if you plan to do any real work.

If you’re looking for a true workhorse of a tablet at a great price, I believe you’ll find that the Quantum View 10.1″ Tablet and Keyboard with Windows 8.1 & Office 2013 is an outstanding option. Review: Quantum Axis A23 7″ Dual Core, Dual Camera, 1024×600 Capacitive Screen Android 4.2 Tablet

Posted on June 19, 2014

quantum-axis-a23-tabletI had been on the lookout for an inexpensive Android tablet for a while when I learned about the Quantum Axis A23, a 7″, dual core, dual camera model with 512MB of DDR3 RAM.

The attractive molded plastic case firmly holds the screen in place with no bending or cracking sounds.  [Read more…]

Most of the bluetooth headsets in use today were made by the phones’ manufacturers, but some of the better deals can be had by purchasing a third-party unit.

I recently had the opportunity to review a great bluetooth headset from the folks at Mpow, and I came away very impressed with it.

I received another Mpow headset to review just a few days ago, and after checking it out and putting it through its paces, I can say that I’m just as impressed with this one.  [Read more…]

Posted on May 15, 2014

andget-usb-dvd-burnerA portable USB DVD burner can come in handy in lots of situations. For example, you might have a PC with a bad optical drive that you need to install a piece of software on. Or perhaps you want to listen to a CD on occasion.

As you know, there are still CDs and DVDs out there, and sometimes we do need to use them. Yes, even in this age of ubiquitous digital downloads, we still need access to a good optical drive from time to time.

That being said, in my opinion a portable DVD drive isn’t something that you need to spend a lot of money on. In fact, I believe that $30 or so is plenty.  [Read more…]
