Today’s featured tech tip….

How to record the screen on your Mac

Have you ever wondered if you could record the contents of your screen and turn them into a video?

The answer is yes. In fact, people do it all the time because it’s a great way to visually show someone how to perform a given task (or series of tasks). They can literally watch you do everything you did via the video you created.

If you have a Mac you can make a recording of your Mac’s screen without having to install any third-party software. Here’s how:

1 – Press the Command+Shift+5 key combination to display the “Screen Capture” menu.

2 – If you want to record the entire screen, click on the rectangular icon with a circle in the corner.

If you want to record a portion of the screen click on the dashed rectangular icon with the circle in the corner.

3 – Click Options to choose whether you want to record audio to accompany the video, to select a location to save the recording to and/or to select any other options that you might want to choose.

3 – Press the Record button to start recording everything that takes place on the screen (or the selected portion of the screen).

4 – To stop recording and end the video, either click on the Stop icon (the square inside a circle) at the top of the screen or press the Command+Control+Esc key combination.

That’s all there is to it. You should now have a video in the location you selected that shows everything that happened on the screen while you were recording it, complete with audio if you selected that option.
