How to change your Twitter password

Posted on May 7, 2018

As you probably know by now, Twitter recently announced that a glitch has caused every Twitter user’s password to (possibly) be leaked to hackers.

In order to mitigate any damage caused by the data leak Twitter has strongly recommended that all users change the passwords on their accounts right away.

Since that announcement was made I’ve received several requests for instructions for resetting the password on Twitter. That got me to thinking that maybe I should write those instructions up in a blog post.  [Read more…]

Q&A: How do I switch from the desktop site to the mobile site on Twitter?

Posted on April 20, 2018

twitter-logoQuestion from Neilen G.:  I have a fairly small 11.6 inch laptop that I carry with me when I travel (and I travel frequently for work). I’ve found that it’s the perfect size to use when I’m on a plane.

Unfortunately, I also have an issue with my vision. Nothing major, but it’s bad enough to cause problems for me at times.

I usually don’t have a problem reading the screen when I’m using Twitter, but sometimes at night when my eyes are tired I find it hard to make out some of the text.

I tried typing Ctrl+ to make the text bigger but it ended up pushing some of the content off the sides of the screen.

I read somewhere that switching to the mobile Twitter site when my eyes are tired will make the text easier to read, but it didn’t give instructions for making the switch.

I guess my question is can you tell me how to switch to the Twitter mobile site on my laptop (and how to switch back when I need to)?

8 essential Twitter privacy tweaks that you should make right now

Posted on May 18, 2017

As you probably know, it’s getting harder with each passing day to protect your privacy on most major social media websites.

Some venues are worse than others, but they all seem to be getting more invasive with the passage of time.

While Facebook’s privacy issues are well-known, many Twitter users are unaware that they need to lock down their privacy settings as well.

The purpose of this post is to highlight several essential privacy tweaks that can make your interactions with Twitter safer and a bit less invasive of your personal and professional privacy.  [Read more…]

Twitter: Photos no longer count against the 140 character limit when tweeting

Posted on September 21, 2016

twitter-logoOne of the most frustrating things about using Twitter has always been having to limit the total number of characters in a tweet to 140 or less.

Simply put, it’s often pretty hard to get your message across in just 140 characters!

Even worse, photos and various other “extras” that are often added to a tweet can make that job harder still.

Although users have complained about the 140 character limit for years, Twitter has always resisted making any changes to the iconic, but frustrating limit.  [Read more…]
