Even though solid state drives (SSDs) are beginning to replace spinning hard drives in the marketplace, the majority of computers in use today still use a hard drive for long-term data storage.

Question from Stephanie:  I’m the office manager for a medium-sized wholesale floral distributor.

Including myself, we have nine people working in our office, and each of us have identical Dell Business desktop computers.

These computers came with Windows 7 Pro but I upgraded all of them to Windows 10 bit back when the upgrade was free.

I’ve been creating weekly System Image backups for each computer but I just learned that I need to create a System Repair Disc too so if anything happens I’ll be able to boot the PC to the Recovery Options screen.

My question is do I need to create a separate System Repair Disc for each of the nine computers or will the same one work for all of them?  [Read more…]

Planning to upgrade to Windows 10? Back up your current Windows installation first!

Windows-10-logoMillions of people around the world are planning to upgrade their computers to Windows 10 after it’s released to the public on July 29.

Personally, I think that’s a good thing. After using the Windows 10 Preview for several months I honestly believe Windows 10 will be the best version of Windows ever.

That being said, I plan to make full backups of the current Windows installation on every PC that I plan to upgrade before installing Windows 10. I strongly recommend that you do the same. Here’s why:  [Read more…]
