Question from Marvin:  After using a flip phone for years, I finally decided it was time to upgrade to a smart phone.

I found a good deal on a new iPhone so I bought one. I like the phone ok, but some things about it are really confusing.

For example, my phone’s user manual says it supports both Bluetooth and WiFi wireless connectivity.

What is Bluetooth and how is it different from WiFi?  [Read more…]

Question from Gwen:  I installed a kid’s game on my iPhone that teaches the child how to do basic math in order to solve a series of mysteries.

The recommended age range for the game is 4 to 7.

My daughter turned 4 a couple of months ago so I believe she should be able to successfully play the game.

The thing is I don’t want her to be able to do anything with the phone except use this one app. Is it possible to set it up this way?

Question from Deneen:  My husband and I recently moved into a new home that’s located in a very hilly area.

We both have iPhones but the T-Mobile signal inside the house is very weak. We have no problem sending and receiving texts but we have lots of really irritating dropped calls.

We sprung for Xfinity Internet when we moved in, but we’d rather not have to install a landline phone if we can help it.

Is there any way we can boost the weak cellular signal enough to prevent the dropped calls?  [Read more…]

Question from Brenda:  Hi, Rick. I have a question for you, and I know the answer is probably pretty simple.

I just got an iPad and I’m really struggling trying to figure it out. What I need to know is how to take a screenshot on it?

I’ve seen people post screenshots before so I know it can be done, but I can’t figure out how to do it. I’m probably older than most of your readers and understanding these modern gadgets doesn’t come easy for me.    [Read more…]

Question from Marcella:  I used to watch Netflix on my computer but it got fried by lightning.

I’ve decided that I don’t really need a computer now so I won’t be replacing it.

I now watch Netflix on my iPhone but I’d really like to watch it on my 32 inch TV. I know I could use AirPlay but my TV doesn’t support it.

My boyfriend said I should be able to connect my phone to the TV through its HDMI port somehow, but he isn’t sure how to do it because my phone has a lightning connector instead of HDMI.  [Read more…]
