Question from Marie N.: I have an urgent question and I really hope you’ll have an answer for me.
I accidentally formatted the external USB hard drive that I use to store all of my scanned family photos with my Mac.
I meant to format the drive I use to store my Mac backups but I accidentally plugged in the wrong drive!
I hope you can help me recover my pics from it?
Accidentally getting some files permanently deleted from the computer’s Recycle Bin is something that happens to everyone from time to time.
The consequences can be disastrous if the lost files are very important like a video you’ve spent hours editing, a long Word file, a business-related PDF, or even some old family photos.
And as you can imagine, emptying all the files from the Recycle Bin makes things even worse!
If you don’t have any luck finding the missing files in the Recycle Bin and you don’t have it backed up somewhere, you can always recover deleted files using remo recover.
I’m often asked if I’d be willing to recover the photos and other files from a “dead” laptop or desktop computer.
I typically refer them to this post that explains how to retrieve their files themselves, but some folks prefer to pay me to do the job for them because they don’t want to take a chance on accidentally trashing their files.
