Today’s Quick Tip….

Microsoft has just released an emergency update to patch an extremely dangerous security flaw called PrintNightmare.

In a nutshell, this vulnerability allows hackers to gain complete control of your PC via the Print Spooler service, which is an integral part of every version of Windows.

Once a hacker has gained control of your PC he/she can do pretty much anything they want to do with it, including add user accounts, delete YOUR user account, plant malware and/or potentially access your online accounts and any sensitive info that’s stored on the PC.

This vulnerability is so dangerous that Microsoft has even released a patch for Windows 7, something they rarely do once they stop providing security updates for an older version of Windows.

Bottom line: To keep your system safe you really need to install this Windows Update right away. Just be sure to create a fresh backup before you initiate the update procedure.

WD 8TB My Cloud Home Personal Cloud NAS

By now I’m sure you’re familiar with cloud storage, the various online file storage solutions that allow you to save and access your important files and back up your devices from anywhere in the world?

Well, here’s a great way to create your own personal cloud storage right right inside your own home or office.

This little jewel will give you all the benefits of cloud storage while keeping the actual drive (and the files stored on it) completely under your control and physically located in your local home or office.

In other words, you won’t be at the mercy of a far-away company that could close your account and delete all of your files at a moment’s notice.

This 8TB Network Attached Storage (NAS) device will allow you to back up all of your devices to the same drive and access them from anywhere in the world via the Internet.

The software you’ll need to quickly set up your own personal cloud storage is included. There’s nothing else to buy and there are zero monthly subscription fees.
