Amazon refunds shipping charges and gives customers $20 gift cards for late deliveries by UPS

Posted on December 27, 2013

I have long been a huge fan of Amazon, and this story is yet another example of why I like them so much.

According to the Washington Post, UPS underestimated the number of packages they’d need to deliver before Christmas, which caused many of them to not be delivered until the day after.  [Read more…]

How to stop Internet Explorer 11 from suggesting irrelevant sites in the address bar

Posted on December 26, 2013

ie-11-logoI don’t know about you, but I really like how Internet Explorer 11 provides a drop-down list of site suggestions when I type a letter into the address bar.

For example, if I type the letter R it’ll display RicksDailyTips.com, RealClearPolitics.com and several other sites that begin with the letter R. To visit a site on the list, all I have to do is click on its URL.  [Read more…]

Q&A: Is there a free program that does what PC Matic does?

Posted on December 26, 2013

pcmatic-logoQuestion from Christopher B.:  It seems like every time I turn on the TV they’re showing an ad for PC Matic, so I finally gave their free download a try.

It seems like PC Matic would be a good program, but I just can’t afford to spend $50 for it. Is there a free program out there that does the same thing?

Posted on December 26, 2013

import-g-oQuestion from Wayne K.:  Well, I finally decided to give Outlook.com a try, and I found that really like it.

I’d love to drop Gmail altogether and switch to Outlook.com, but I have 3 years worth of Gmail messages stored and I can’t afford to lose them. Can all of my old Gmail messages be imported into Outlook.com? And if so, how do I do it?

Q&A: Why am I getting an error message about an unsupported video configuration?

Posted on December 24, 2013

windows-vista-logoQuestion from Andrea W.:  Please help me Rick!! I have an Acer Desktop computer running Windows Vista. I took the cover off of it and took it outside to blow the dust out of it.

After it was all clean inside I took it back into the house and connected everything back up. I turned the computer back on and everything seemed fine at first, but then it stopped cold and displayed an error message.

I took this picture of the screen with my camera:

It won’t let me do anything at all! I even turned the power off and unplugged everything, then plugged everything back in. I did this several times but I keep getting the same error message. Do you think I’ve messed up the video card? Your FAST help will be greatly appreciated!!!!
