Sony recalls Vaio Fit 11A Laptop due to a potential burn hazard

sony-vaio-fitIf you own a Vaio Fit 11A laptop, Sony is requesting that you immediately unplug the AC adapter, turn off the machine and wait for instructions from them about having the unit repaired or replaced.

It seems that the built-in, non-removable batteries in certain models are prone to over-heating, causing some units to catch on fire. Not a good thing, especially if you happen to be holding it on your lap at the time (which you should NEVER do by the way).

At the current time Sony has singled out just one model number known to contain the bad batteries, but they are compiling a list of other model numbers that might be affected by the recall. The model number they have already mentioned is SVF11N13CXS.

If you have purchased a Sony Vaio Fit 11A Laptop but haven’t registered it yet, I suggest that you do so immediately so Sony can send you an official recall notice once it has been finalized.
