Sprint now offering DirecTV customers a year of free service to switch from AT&T

Posted on August 30, 2015

sprint-logoSprint is now offering a full year of free cellular service to any DirecTV customer who switches from AT&T to Sprint between August 28 and September 30, 2015.

Now that AT&T has merged with DirecTV, Sprint is hoping to lure as many AT&T customers over to their side as they possibly can to combat the newly announced AT&T/DirecTV bundles.

The free service that Sprint is offering to DirecTV customers includes unlimited talk, unlimited text and 2 GB of data per line on up to five lines, all while on the Sprint network.  [Read more…]

Unsure about upgrading to Windows 10? Watch this video to get a preview before your decide.

Windows-10-logoI receive several reader emails each week asking whether I recommend upgrading to Windows 10 or staying with an older version of Windows.

The problem is, that’s a difficult question to answer because we all have different preferences and “tastes” when it comes to computer software.  [Read more…]

Posted on August 28, 2015

I review a lot of products on my blogs, and it isn’t often that an item makes me say “WOW!!!”

Well, let me take a few moments to tell you about one that did.

I just finished testing the Coolreall BOX21 Mini Portable Car Jump Starter & Power Bank Set, and let me tell you – it simply amazed me!

Q&A: How’s the best way to keep my iPhone charged up during a 3 day camping trip?

Posted on August 27, 2015

campingQuestion from Eileen J.:  Hi Rick. My husband and I are planning a three day camping trip in the Alabama woods for a little over a month from now.

I know I’ll end up spending a lot of time Facebooking and playing games on my iPhone while we’re there because I always get bored after just a couple of hours.

My problem is my phone’s battery always dies on the first day and I don’t have a way to charge it back up. Can you tell me the best way to keep it charged for the entire three days without having to spend an arm and a leg?

We’ll have a usable cell signal where we’re going, but we won’t have an electrical outlet to plug a charger into or handy access to our vehicle for using a car charger. Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Q&A: How do I install the free upgrade to Windows 10 on my new laptop?

Posted on August 25, 2015

asus-rog-g751jl-fhdQuestion from Anicka T.:  I recently noticed that Amazon was selling the ASUS ROG G751JL FHD laptop for $200 off, so I orderd one. I received it this morning.

When I ordered it Amazon said it qualifies for the free upgrade to Windows 10, but I don’t see the icon to click to upgrade it, and I don’t see an upgrade for it in Windows Update either.

Is there something special that I need to do in order to install the Windows 10 upgrade?
