Review: Carbonite Online Backup Service

Posted on April 29, 2024

Have you ever had a laptop stolen or suffered a hard drive crash?

If so, you already know that losing your precious photos, music, Word documents and other critical files is even worse than having to replace the hardware.

If you didn’t have a current backup, you most likely lost every scrap of your irreplaceable data. That’s why always having a current backup of your hard drive on hand is absolutely critical.

But did you know that just backing up your data onto an external hard drive isn’t enough?

Q&A: How do I change a post’s author in WordPress?

Posted on April 29, 2024

Question from Carla G.:  I have a WordPress blog and a while back I read your post explaining why we should write our blog posts using an “Editor” account instead of the “Administrator” account.

I set up a new account with the Editor role as you suggested and I’ve been logging into that account to do my writing ever since.

Q&A: Is it really dangerous to keep using Windows 7?

Posted on April 28, 2024

Question from Luisa:  I’m hoping you can clear something up for me.

I’ve heard some people say we need to stop using Windows 7 now that Microsoft has stopped updating it because it’s no longer safe.

Others are saying it’s perfectly fine to keep using it as long as the computer has an antivirus on it.

This is really confusing to me.

My HP laptop is old but it still works fine even though it has Windows 7 on it. I really hate the thought of having to replace it, but I will if it’s really unsafe to use.

Top way to transfer Google Photos to iCloud Photos

Posted on April 28, 2024

Why Transfer Google Photos to iCloud Photos?

Ever felt the urge to relocate your photo library from Google Photos to iCloud Photos? There are two compelling reasons:

1 – Embracing the Apple Environment: If you’re a dedicated Apple user, consistently coordinating your photos with other Apple services can be a major benefit. iCloud Photos works hand-in-hand with your iPhone, iPad, and Mac, permitting you to easily access your photos over all your devices.

2 – Freeing Up Google Space: Google Photos offers 15GB of free space with other Google services like Gmail, Google Drive, etc. After it canceled boundless space for compressed photos, Google’s free capacity space is constrained. By moving photos from Google Photos to iCloud Photos, you can free up Google’s capacity space.

Whatever the reason is, the address remains: how do you easily migrate Google Photos to iCloud Photos without any effort? In this article, we will give you a step-by-step direction to the question.  [Read more…]
