Monthly Tech Giveaway….
Long-time subscribers to my daily Rick’s Tech Tips Newsletter will remember that I used to feature a monthly Tech Gadget Giveaway that all active subscribers were eligible to win.
I ended up having to suspend that giveaway due to the onset of the Covid pandemic, but now is the time to bring it back – better than ever.
The prizes featured in the new giveaway will include a combination of items I received for testing and review and brand new items that will provided directly by partner companies.
Winners will be selected at random. All Standard subscribers have an equal chance to win. All Premium subscribers have two chances (their email addresses are added to the pot twice).
November’s winner will receive a Brother DCPL2550DW Multifunction Monochrome Laser Printer, Scanner and Copier. Click here for details.

How to remove your Facebook profile from Google (and other search engines)
By default, Facebook allows Google and other search engines to link to your profile from their search results.
That means anyone can type your name into their favorite search engine and find your Facebook profile unless you have changed your privacy settings to prevent it.
Luckily, it’s very easy to make this change and cause Google and the other search engines to (eventually) remove your Facebook profile from their search results.
The reason I said (eventually) is because it can take some time for the search engines to discover that you have changed this setting, and they won’t remove your profile until they do.
If you’d like to make this change, simply follow the steps below for the device you use to access Facebook.
If you use Facebook in a web browser on a laptop or desktop computer:
1 – Log into your account and click your tiny profile avatar picture located at the far right side of the top menu bar.
2 – Click Settings & privacy.
3 – Click Settings.
4 – In the left-hand pane, click Privacy.
5 – In the right-hand pane, scroll down to the “How people find and contact you” section and click Do you want search engines outside of Facebook to link to your profile?
6 – Uncheck the box beside “Allow search engines outside of Facebook to link to your profile”.
7 – Click Turn off to confirm your choice.
If you use the Facebook app on a mobile device:
Note: The steps below might vary just a bit depending on which version of the Facebook app you have. Therefore you should use this procedure as a general guide.
1 – Log into your account and tap your tiny profile avatar picture icon in the corner of the screen.
2 – Tap Settings & Privacy.
3 – Tap Privacy shortcuts.
4 – Scroll to the “Privacy” section and tap See more privacy settings.
5 – Scroll down to the “Audience and visibility” section and tap How people find and contact you.
6 – Toggle the “Allow search engines outside of Facebook to link to your profile setting” to Off.
That’s all there is to it. Google and the other search engines should remove your Facebook profile the next time their bots try to crawl your profile page.
