Today’s quick tech tip….

How to find most any Mac setting in seconds

Yesterday’s “Quick Tip” explained how to quickly find most any Windows setting using the Windows Search tool.

Within minutes of that email hitting recipients’ Inboxes I started receiving messages from folks asking if the same thing can be done on a Mac.

The answer is yes, it certainly can. Just use your Mac’s awesome “Spotlight” search tool. Here’s how:

1 – Launch Spotlight Search by pressing the Command+Space Bar key combination.

2 – Type a word that’s directly associated with the setting you’re wanting to find.

For example, if you want to change a mouse setting, simply type the word mouse into the search box and then select the specific setting you’re looking for from the list of search results.

To access a network related setting, simply search for the word network.

If you need to change a display related setting you’d search for the word display.

And so forth…

Bottom line: Just as with a Windows PC, searching for a specific Mac setting is almost always faster than slogging through the menus to find it, especially if you don’t know where to begin looking.
