How to enable ‘Anonymous Posting’ in your Facebook group
Most Facebook group admins prefer to have the poster’s names remain visible for their groups because it generally helps keep order in the group.
After all, most folks are likely to think twice before posting something hateful or mean spirited if they know the other group members will be able to see their names.
That being said, some groups deal with medical issues and other sensitive topics that might make some members hesitant to post something and have their name attributed to it.
If you manage such a group you have the option of allowing group members to post anonymously if they would feel more comfortable doing so.
Anonymous posting is disabled by default, but you can enable it on your group if you think it would help the members feel better about posting there.
Note: The authors of anonymous posts will still be visible to group admins and moderators. They will only appear anonymous to the group’s regular members.
Also, anonymous posts don’t go up right away. They must be approved by an admin or moderator.
If you’d like to enable anonymous posting on your group simply follow the steps below for the device you use to access Facebook.
If you use Facebook in a web browser on a laptop or desktop computer:
1 – Log in to your Facebook account and navigate to your group’s home page.
2 – In the left-hand column, click Group settings.
3 – Scroll down to the “Anonymous posting” line in the “Manage discussion” section and click the pencil icon .
4 – Toggle the “Anonymous posting” setting to On, then click Save.
If you use the Facebook app on a smartphone or tablet:
1 – Log in to your Facebook account and navigate to your group’s home page.
2 – Tap the shield icon (the one with a star on it) in the top-right corner of the screen.
3 – Scroll down and tap Group settings.
4 – Scroll down and tap Anonymous posting.
5 – Tap On, then tap Save.
That’s all there is to it. From now on your group members will be able to choose to make certain posts anonymous.
