Today’s Quick Tip….

How to change your Windows 11 PC’s Sleep settings

Like its predecessors, Windows 11 has a handy Sleep Mode that turns off some non-essential components and places the others in a low-power mode after the machine has been idle for a pre-set length of time.

This special low-power mode has the potential to shave a few bucks off your monthly electric bill while also making your computer last longer.

Most PCs already have Sleep mode enabled when they are shipped from the factory, but the default settings rarely align with the user’s needs.

Luckily, you can easily adjust those settings to make your PC’s sleep habits better match the way you actually use the machine. Just follow the steps below:

1 – Right-click the Start button and then click Settings.

2 – Select System in the left-hand pane, then click Power over on the right.

3 – Change each of the settings in the Screen and sleep section to match your personal preferences.

Note: I keep each of those settings set to 30 minutes on my laptops, but feel free to choose the length of time (or Never) that best matches your needs.

That’s all there is to it. Now your Windows 11 PC will go to sleep on your schedule, not Microsoft’s.

Today’s post from ‘My Daily Smile’…

Don’t let someone else define your success

It’s easy to fall into the trap of basing your own definition of success on what someone else thinks it should be. You are in control of your own destiny and only you get to define success in whatever way you see fit.

Tech news that caught my eye…

• Your work Gmail is about to look different

• Google One VPN is now available on iOS

• Netflix finally lets you remove shows and movies from ‘Continue Watching’

• Wyze ends support for its original Wyze Cam v1

• Apple’s M1 Pro and Max chips are living up to the hype

Wondering how you can help me keep doing what I’m doing?
