A massive 13TB SSD is slated to hit the market next month

Posted on January 15, 2016

fixstars-ssdLast July I wrote a post about how Solid State Drives (SSDs) would soon be competing with traditional hard drives in terms of storage capacity and cost, and sure enough, they are starting to do just that.

With that in mind, it appears that SSDs are now ballooning in capacity as well.

The Japanese-based Fixstars Corporation is planning to release a massive SSD in February 2016 that contains a mind-boggling 13TB of storage space.

Yes, you read that right: That’s indeed 13TB – over twice the size of current SSDs.  [Read more…]

Amazon Prime members now get 20% off newly released video games

Posted on January 13, 2016

amazon-prime-logo2The folks at Amazon just keep adding more perks for their Amazon Prime members to enjoy.

In my opinion the free 2-day shipping on all Prime-eligible products alone makes signing up for Prime an amazing deal, but all the “extras” they keep adding just make it even better.

They have just announced the latest perk for Prime members, and if you’re a gamer you’re going to love it. You can now get 20% off on all physical video games that are sold and shipped by Amazon!  [Read more…]

This essentially means if you’re running still running Windows 8 on your PC you’ll need to upgrade to either Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 ASAP in order to keep your PC safe from future malware attacks.  [Read more…]

Posted on December 17, 2015

target-logoThe security firm Avast has announced that they have found a serious security flaw connected to Target’s popular “Wish List” app.

As you might recall, over 40 million Target shoppers had their personal information compromised just a couple of years ago. And now your info could possibly be at risk yet again.

In a nutshell, the newly-discovered flaw makes it easy for hackers to download the full names, mailing addresses and email addresses of every user who has used Target’s app to create a Christmas Wish List.  [Read more…]

Will Microsoft eventually make updating to Windows 10 mandatory?

Posted on December 11, 2015

Windows-10-logoWhen Microsoft first announced that Windows 10 was going to be free for people who are currently using either Windows 7 or 8.1, lots of folks did the happy dance.

After all, for the first time ever, a major new Windows upgrade was being released to the masses for free.

I still think the free Windows 10 upgrade offer is awesome, but I also believe taking advantage of it should be optional. But as it turns out, Microsoft apparently doesn’t agree with me.  [Read more…]
