Question from Brenda: Hi, Rick. I’ve been reading your blog for a over a year now, and I love it. Great stuff for us tech-challenged folks!
Now that I’ve buttered you up (I hope!) I have a question for you.
I have a Windows computer and the notification messages that pop up in the lower right corner of the screen disappear before I notice them and have time to read them.
Is there any way to make those notifications stay on the screen longer? [Read more…]

Question from Ellen: I’ve been following your blog for a while now, Rick.
It seems like you write about a new Facebook scam or hoax at least once a week or so.
I always forward your ‘scam alerts’ to my sister to make sure she sees them, but the other night she asked me to stop. She said there can’t really be that many scams on Facebook because they keep them cleaned up.

Question from May: I love your site, Rick. I read it every day and find your info to be so helpful!
I hope you can help me solve a problem I’m having with my Chrome browser (it’s the only browser I use).
When I do Google searches I seem to get a lot of results from Tumblr, and many of the ones I click on are really nasty pages that I’d rather not see.
I try real hard to avoid clicking on any Tumblr links when I search for things but sometimes I mess up and click one by accident.
Is there any way to completely block ALL pages from Tumblr without also blocking any other websites?

Question from Maurine: I bought a 2TB external USB hard drive to store my large collection of old family pictures on.
When I plugged the new drive into my computer I noticed that it has several files on it already.
One is a file with info about the warranty. Another is a user guide. I’m not sure what the other two files are.
My question is can I delete all these files or do I need to keep them?
