Q&A: How do I turn off Windows Update?

Posted on April 1, 2016

microsoft-windowsQuestion from Todd L.:  I have a 4 year old Dell laptop with Windows 7, and I really like it.

A guy I know told me that if I don’t turn off Windows Update it will automatically replace Windows 7 with Windows 10.

I don’t want Windows 10 but I can’t figure out how to turn off Windows Update. How do I do that?

Question from Rhonda H.:  I bought an Apple Magic Keyboard back in December, and I love it. But I have a problem that I can’t figure out.

I was told that this keyboard would wake up my Mac when it’s sleeping just by pressing a key, but I can’t get it to do that.

Can you tell me how to fix this so the keyboard will start waking up my Mac?

Q&A: How can I remove old Wi-Fi networks from my laptop in Windows 10?

Posted on February 19, 2016

Windows-10-logoQuestion from Cindy P.:  I love your blog Rick, and I really appreciate all the great info you provide.

I’ve been following RicksDailyTips for a long time, and now I have question for you.

My company is expanding rapidly and I’ve spent the last 5 months travelling from city to city helping train all the new hires in our stores.

My laptop now has a long list of Wi-Fi networks from the hotels I’ve been staying in. I know I’ll never be staying in most of those hotels again so I’d like to remove those wireless networks.

Can you tell me how to do that? My laptop is a Dell and it’s running Windows 10.
