Planning to upgrade your PC to Windows 10? You need to do this first!

Posted on December 4, 2015

Windows-10-logoMicrosoft really wants you to upgrade your computer that’s running Windows 7 or 8.1 to Windows 10. In fact, they want you to upgrade so badly that they’re literally offering you the upgrade for free.

Personally, I really like Windows 10, and getting it for free was like getting a Christmas present in July. But others aren’t that keen on it, and that’s fine.

Plenty of peole are perfectly content with Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, and they have every right to keep using them as long as they can.

If you happen to like what you’ve heard about Windows 10 and you’re planning to install it on one or more of your machines, I believe you’ll probably be glad you did after all is said and done. And if you aren’t, you’ll be able to roll your Windows 10 installation back to the previous version (as long as you do it within 30 days).

Great news: You no longer have to “Decline” Facebook event invitations

Posted on November 10, 2015

facebook-logoOne of the most discomforting things about Facebook is having to click “Decline” when you receive an invitation to an event that you would rather not attend. After all, nobody wants to be considered a party-pooper!

While you can always click “Maybe” (or simply ignore the invitation altogether), that will leave the host wondering if you’re going to show up.  [Read more…]

How to easily block Windows Update from installing Windows 10 without your permission

Posted on November 3, 2015

Windows-10-logoMillions of users have updated their PCs from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, but plenty of others haven’t installed the update and they have no intention of doing so in the future.

If you are one of those folks who really don’t want to upgrade to Windows 10, Microsoft is planning to make it harder to avoid it in the coming year.  [Read more…]

Quickly uninstall unwanted Windows apps with CCleaner

Posted on October 29, 2015

ccleaner-logoMicrosoft first introduced the Windows Store along with Windows 8, and now that Windows 10 is here the Windows Store and its many available apps are included with it as well.

The Windows Store is simply a collection of lightweight Windows apps that you can download and install on your Windows PC.

Some of those apps are actually quite useful, but many others offer little if any real value at all. Even worse, a few of them are nothing more than adware and junkware. A perfect example is the much-hated “Get Office” app that I wrote about in a previous post.  [Read more…]
