Today’s featured tech tip….

How to use your laptop as a desktop computer

Laptops are awesome when you’re on the go, but wouldn’t it be nice to be able to use a larger screen, a mouse and a full-size keyboard when you’re at home or in your office?

Well, truth be told, you can.

Virtually any modern Windows laptop can connect to an external monitor with the right cable, and connecting a mouse and keyboard are as simple as plugging them into a pair of open USB ports.

If your laptop is strapped for USB ports you can get a wireless keyboard/mouse combo and plug the 2-in-1 nano receiver into a single port.

If your laptop is a MacBook you can easily use it as a desktop Mac as well.

Simply get yourself a monitor and cable that matches the available port on your MacBook (which will depend on the model), plus a Mac-compatible keyboard and mouse.

If you’d like to do this but you don’t know what you need to buy (in terms of compatibility), just reply to this email with your laptop’s brand and model and I’ll be happy to help.
