What’s new….

My Monthly Tech Giveaway is back!

Long-time subscribers to my daily Rick’s Tech Tips Newsletter will remember that I used to feature a monthly Tech Gadget Giveaway that all active subscribers were eligible to win.

I ended up having to suspend that giveaway due to the onset of the Covid pandemic, but now is the time to bring it back – better than ever.

The prizes featured in the new giveaway will include a combination of items I received for testing and review and brand new items that will provided directly by partner companies.

Winners will be selected at random. All Standard subscribers have an equal chance to win. All Premium subscribers have two chances (their email addresses are added to the pot twice).

November’s winner will receive a Brother DCPL2550DW Multifunction Monochrome Laser Printer, Scanner and Copier. Click here for details.

Today’s featured tech tip….

Tip for cleaning up your browser’s cluttered Bookmarks Bar

Is your Bookmarks bar getting crowded with dozens of bookmarks that you really need to keep, but only use on rare occasions?

You can clear up a lot of that clutter by moving groups of related bookmarks into folders. When you need to access one of those bookmarks you just open the relevant folder and click on the bookmark in question.

Here’s how to create a bookmark folder in either Google Chrome or Firefox:

1 – Right-click on a blank area of the Bookmarks bar and click Add folder.

2 – Follow the prompts as they appear.

In either browser, just give the new folder a descriptive name so you’ll have an idea of what kind of bookmarks are in it. Then drag all the rarely used bookmarks that fall into that category into the folder.

And by the way, you can add as many new folders to your Bookmarks bar as you need.

Rick’s Daily Pick…

JBL Tune 510BT Wireless On-Ear Headphones

Most people seem to prefer earbuds these days, but I do receive frequent requests for recommendations for the larger “on-ear” style headphones as well. This is my current favorite in what I consider to be an affordable price range.

Today’s post from ‘My Daily Smile’…

Video: Would you take this wild bus ride?

Very interesting indeed.

Tech news that caught my eye…

• New 50-Gig Internet plan raises the broadband speed bar way up

• Google Search can now help you solve geometry, physics and calculus problems

• Netflix’s ad-supported plan will reward binge watchers with ad-free episodes

• Chrome for iOS now lets you move the address bar to the bottom

• Thousands of shortened domains registered to carry out cyberattacks and more

Wondering how you can help me keep doing what I’m doing?

1 – If you’d like to help support my work, you can do so by leaving me a tip.

Every penny of your tip will go towards my blog’s web hosting and other related fees, which are substantial.

2 – You can Forward this email to a friend along with a short note of recommendation. (Just click the “Forward” button or link.)

Rest assured that anything you can do to help me keep helping folks will be greatly appreciated.
