Today’s featured tech tip….

Be careful when syncing is enabled on your devices

Modern devices such as computers, smartphones and tablets are capable of syncing pretty much everything that’s stored on them with all of your other devices via the cloud.

That can be awesome if you enjoy the freedom of being able to access all of your photos, browser bookmarks and other handy items on whichever device you happen to be using at the time.

But there’s a huge danger with syncing that can really come back to bite you if you aren’t careful…

Depending on how you have your syncing set up, deleting a photo or other item from one device can potentially delete it from ALL of your devices – and your cloud storage account – at the same time.

That means if you don’t want a certain photo or file on your tablet and you delete it, it could well disappear from your other devices (and from the cloud) even if your intention was to to keep it on those other devices.

That’s why it pays to know how syncing works on your specific devices. I recommend that you go into your Sync settings and take a look at how deleted items are handled. You can then make changes as necessary.
