Today’s quick tech tip….

Give your PC an immediate speed boost

Did you know there’s a quick settings change you can make that could give your Windows PC an immediate (and permanent) shot of adrenaline?

Every Windows PC come with a “Power Mode” setting that allows the user to choose from a selection of power modes that directly affect the performance of the machine. Here’s how to choose the fastest option for your PC, depending upon which version of Windows it’s running.

Important: If your computer is a laptop the settings changes detailed below will cause the battery to drain a bit faster. Please take that into account before making the change.

If you have a desktop PC battery life obviously won’t be an issue.

Windows 11:

1 –  Right-click the Start button and select Settings from the menu.

2 – Make sure the System tab is selected in the left-hand pane, then click Power over on the right.

3 – Change the “Power mode” setting to Best performance.

Windows 10:

1 –  Right-click the Start button and select Settings from the menu.

2 – Click System.

3 – Click Power & sleep.

4 – Click the Additional power settings link.

5 – Select the radio button beside High performance.

That’s all there is to it. If the Power Mode on your machine was previously set to one of the other settings you should now see at least some increase in system performance.
