Today’s quick tech tip….

How to uninstall unused ‘Optional Features’ in Windows

As you probably know, both Windows 10 and Windows 11 come with several “optional features” installed by default, some (or maybe even all) of which you will never use.

What you might not know is you can uninstall any (or all) of those optional features to eliminate a bit of the bloat that’s included in your PC’s Windows installation. Just follow the steps below for the version of Windows that’s running on your machine.

Windows 10:

1 – Right-click on the Start button, then select Settings from the menu.

2 – Click Apps.

3 – Click the Optional features link.

4 – Right-click on the first optional feature you want to remove, then click Uninstall.

5 – Repeat step 4 for each of the remaining apps you want to uninstall.

Windows 11:

1 – Right-click on the Start button, then select Settings from the menu.

2 – In the left-hand pane, click Apps.

3 – In the right-hand pane, click Optional features.

4 – Click on the first optional feature you want to remove, then click Uninstall.

5 – Repeat step 4 for each of the remaining apps you want to uninstall.

UGREEN External Hard Drive Enclosure for 3.5″ & 2.5″ SATA Drives (#ad)

Do you have a bare SATA hard drive that you removed from a defective laptop or desktop PC?

If so, you can use this little gem to connect that drive to your current computer as an external USB drive.

This is an excellent way to access all those irreplaceable photos and files that you thought were probably gone forever.

And when you’re finished transferring the files you want to keep to other media you can format your “new” external hard drive and use it to store even more files.
