Q&A: How do I download my LinkedIn Connections and Contacts?
Question from Sheila: I’ve been on LinkedIn for several years but I’m getting ready to retire, after which I’ll be closing my LinkedIn account.
The thing is, I’ve developed online friendships with quite a few of my LinkedIn connections and contacts, several of which I’d like to keep in contact with outside of LinkedIn.
I know there must be a way to download a list of all my connections and contacts to my computer. Can you tell me what I need to do?
Rick’s answer: It’s actually pretty easy to download any and all of your LinkedIn info, Sheila.
And yes, that includes all of your ‘Connections’ and ‘Contacts’. Just follow the steps below:
1 – Sign into your LinkedIn account.
2 – Click on your tiny profile picture on on right-hand side of the top menu bar, then select Settings & Privacy from the drop-down menu.
3 – In the left-hand pane, click Data privacy.
4 – In the right-hand pane, click Get a copy of your data (it’s in the “How LinkedIn uses your data” section).
5 – Select the type(s) of data you want to download (the available options are self-explanatory).
Note: Selecting the top “radio button” will download ALL of your Linked info and activities, including your Connections and Contacts.
If you just want the Connections and Contacts and nothing else, select the second “radio button”, then check Connections and Imported Contacts.
6 – Click Request Archive and then follow the prompts as they appear to complete the request for the download.
That’s all there is to it, Sheila. In just a few minutes you’ll receive a conformation email containing a link to click to download the zipped CSV file containing the requested info.
