Today’s quick tech tip….

How to quickly find your phone’s iOS or Android version

It seems like every time we turn around these days there’s a new iOS or Android version waiting to be installed on our phones.

There might come a time when you’ll need to find out which version of the operating system is actually installed on your phone, but you might not know how or where to find that info.

Luckily, it’s very easy to find out which version of iOS or Android is on your phone. Just follow the steps below for the type of phone you have.

If you have an iPhone:

1 – Tap your phone’s Settings icon (it looks like a “gear“).

2 – Tap General.

3 – Tap About.

You should now see the currently installed iOS version listed in the “Software Version” field.

If you have an Android phone:

Note: Unlike with iPhones, the actual location of the Android version in the Settings app can vary a bit from one phone to another. Therefore the easiest way to find the Android version is via the Search box. Here’s how…

1 – Tap your phone’s Settings icon (it looks like a “gear“).

2 – Tap inside the “Search settings” box and type the word version, then select Android version from the list of search results.

You should now see the currently installed Android version listed near the top of the screen.

That’s all there is to it. Now you know how to quickly find out which version of its operating system is currently installed on your smartphone.
